Agnes Davis, the President & Chief Executive Officer of Swim, Swim, Swim I Say, has been swimming for as long as she can remember.  As a child, she grew up on Long Island in a family of four, and everyone swam. The indoor pool in her town made swimming all year around seem normal to her. During the summers, early morning outings to Jones Beach with the entire family in the Davis’ blue Volkswagon Beetle were great times. (Her Dad would pop out the front seat, Mom and sister would jump in the back, and Ms. Davis would sit on the cooler in the front passenger seat.  No seat belts, no child endangerment laws… just joyful times together!)

As a middle class family on Long Island, the Davis' swimming ventures weren’t typical, but Agnes barely noticed. Her swimming continued through high school and college. She worked as a lifeguard and taught swimming to her friends as a hobby.  As Ms. Davis continued on a path toward a medical career, she used swimming as exercise, adding it to her gym and running routines. (She ran her first NYC Marathon in 2008, finishing under 4 hours.)

In May 2009-- in the midst of the recession-- Ms. Davis was watching The Today Show and heard businessman Donny Deutsch say “Crazy as it may seem, this is the best time to start a business in the worst economy since The Depression.  Find a niche that makes you unique, love what you do, and the rest will come."  That day, she started thinking, "what am I good at and love to do?" For her, the answer was simple:  SWIMMING.

Ms. Davis researched swimming and learned about the appalling drowning statistics.  With eight drownings in NYC that summer, it was clear to her that every child and adult, whether young or old, and from every ethnic group and socio-economic level, needed to learn how to swim.  The Center for Disease Control (CDC), writes that the best way to prevent water-related injuries is to learn how to swim.  Swimming instruction needed to be transformed from a luxury for the few to a necessity to the majority.

And so, swim swim swim I SAY was born.  Ms. Davis acquired her American Red Cross re-certification in CPR, Water Safety Instruction, and Lifeguarding.  As the only female, Upper Manhattan-owned swimming company, swim swim swim I SAY eliminated the need for Manhattanites to venture downtown for instruction.

swim swim swim I SAY is dedicated to personal service, student learning, excellent communication between parents and instructor, a positive learning environment, repeated enthusiasm and just plain having fun.

Ms. Davis believes the cost should not be a primary factor in determining if children learn to swim, nor should it affect the quality of instruction they receive.   She believes people in the NYC communities that her company serves should not be afraid of the water and should work together to prevent drowning from continuing to be the second leading cause of accidental death among children.

Today, Ms. Davis continues her profession as a Cardiovascular Perfusionist but remains an instructor and at the helm of the company. She teaches students of all ages and swimming abilities, specializing in first time swimmers, novice swimmers and people fearful of water.

Any questions, you may email us from the CONTACT US page or call us at (917) 902-3184.

swim swim swim I SAY does not guarantee with one set of lessons that a person will know how to swim or acquire all the skills to move to the next level. Each person starts at a different point and with a different comfort level of the water.

It is common for any participant to enroll in several sessions of the same Level before they successfully demonstrate each skill. That is okay! It is not how quickly they move through a level, but that they acquire each skill and find a level of comfort. Plus, practicing does help reinforce the lesson taught to the swimmer and makes learning fun.
