Founded in 1974, the New York Chinese Cultural Center (NYCCC), a nonprofit cultural and educational institution, is dedicated to deepening the understanding and appreciation of Chinese culture in global and local communities. NYCCC fulfills its mission by offering professional classes, workshops and performances while nurturing creative and innovative new works that reflect the rich cultural heritages and diverse communities of today.
SCHOOL OF THE ARTS
NYCCC's School of the Arts offers a comprehensive curriculum of dance technique, martial arts, arts and crafts, Chinese language and cultural appreciation all year long that is open to people of all ages and backgrounds. The School of the Arts houses the country's only full time professional school of Chinese dance and is the only dance school to receive the honor of representing the traditional dance curriculum of the Beijing Dance Academy, China's premier national dance institute.
All classes are grouped according to age and skill level. Classes are offered on a semester basis from January through June and September through December, plus a summer camp. In addition, special interest workshops and seasonal sessions are frequently added throughout the year. Many of the classes are held by Saturdays and Sundays.
Tuition is paid semi-annually and discounts are available for families with more than one family member enrolled or for a person attending multiple classes.
