It’s officially ice-skating in NYC season, which means ice skating rinks across New York City, Brooklyn, and Queens are opening now.

Looking for a great place to go ice-skating in New York City with your kids? We've rounded up indoor and outdoor ice-skating rinks in New York City and nearby. Head to an outdoor ice rink in the winter months, or enjoy indoor ice-skating year-round. Whatever the season, you'll find complete details on each rink's location, cost, and public skating hours in our guide. Note: Skating dates are projected and may change pending weather conditions. We recommend calling ahead to confirm skating hours and COVID-19 precautions before visiting any of these locations.

Ice-Skating Rinks in NYC

1. Bank of America Winter Village at Bryant Park

Outdoor rink
40th-42nd streets between Fifth and Sixth avenues, Midtown
Hours: Through March 6, 2022: Monday-Thursday, 8am-10pm. Friday-Sunday and holidays, 8am-11:30pm.
Price: Admission to the rink is free, but skate rentals are $15-$45. Skate sizes kids 6-4 and adults 5-14 are available.

This annual ice-skating event at Bryant Park also features its famous Winter Village Holiday Market.  This year, the Winter Village is hosting more than 170 merchants and dining options from New York City and around the world.

2. The Rink at Brookfield Place

Outdoor rink
230 Vesey St., upper plaza between the Winter Garden and the North Cove Marina, Downtown Manhattan
Hours: Season runs late November-March 2022. Hours vary; check the website for details.
Price: $15 single session (60 mins); $5 skate rental.

Enjoy ice-skating in NYC at this water-side rink in Manhattan’s bustling Downtown area. The rink offers public skating, private lessons, birthday parties and special events packages. There are also Skate with Santa days on Dec. 4, 11 and 18 at 10:15 and 11:30 am, and 12:40, 12:45, 1:55, and 2 pm. Some of these time slots are solo Santa performances. 3. The Rink at Rockefeller Center

Fifth Avenue, between 49th and 50th streets, Rockefeller Center
Hours: Nov. 6-March 6, 2022, daily, 9am-12am
Price: $20-54 for anyone ages 6 and older; $8-22 for children ages 5 and younger. $10 skate rental.

Set in the world-famous Rockefeller Center, this rink is one of the most popular holiday attractions in New York City. Enjoy skating and take photos with the beautiful Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree as your backdrop. 

4. Wollman Rink

Outdoor rink
Central Park (enter at 59th Street and Sixth Avenue)
Hours: Season dates to be announced. Hours are generally daily at 10am and closes at the following times: Monday-Tuesday at 2:30pm; Wednesday-Saturday at 10pm; Sunday at 9pm.
Price: Monday-Thursday: $14; $6 children ages 11 and younger; $5 seniors. Friday-Sunday and holidays: $23; $6 children ages 11 and younger; $9 seniors. $11 skate rentals. 

A mainstay in New York City for more than 70 years, this outdoor ice skating rink in Central Park offers public skating, neighborhood events and artistic programming. 

5. Riverbank State Park 

Outdoor rink
679 Riverside Drive, Hamilton Heights
Hours: November-March. Call for hours.
Price: $5; $3 children

This NYC ice-skating rink is not only a fun place to skate, but you could also get in a good workout before you take to the ice. It has a fitness center, Olympic-size pool, tennis, basketball, handball and paddleball courts, even a 400-meter, eight-lane running track with a football and soccer field. There’s a restaurant, too.

6. The Rink at Manhattan West

385 Ninth Ave.
Hours: Monday-Friday, 2-9:15pm; Saturday-Sunday and holidays, 10am-10:15pm.
Price: $20 for a 60-minute session; $5 skate rental.

Manhattan West, a new NYC dining and entertainment spot, is kicking off its first-ever holiday programming with the launch of a new outdoor ice rink. As part of the destination’s holiday lineup, the rink will host Skate With Santa, a festive family-friendly series on Dec. 5, 12 and 19, from 11am-3pm. More information about the series is on the website.

7. Governors Island Winter Village Ice-Skating Rink

Outdoor rink
Governors Island Ferry Launch, Battery Maritime Building, 10 South St. in Lower Manhattan
Hours: 12-5pm; and Saturday-Sunday, 10am-5pm. (also open on public school holidays)
Price: $11; $8 skate rental; free on Fridays

Head to the first-ever Governors Island Winter Village for ice skating, sledding, games and other winter-time activities this holiday season. Warm up by fire pits and enjoy seasonal food and beverages.

8. Sky Rink at Chelsea Piers

Indoor rink
61 Chelsea Piers, Chelsea
Hours: Check the calendar online. Registration is required.
Prices: $20; $10 skate rental

A year-round NYC ice skating destination since 1969, this rink offers public skating, birthday party packages, and programs for youth and adults, including adult skate clinics—because it’s never too late to learn to skate! An on-site shop has lots of merchandise for sale, including training equipment and skating apparel. 


Ice-Skating in Brooklyn

1. IC Ice Rink

Outdoor rink

Hours: Opens for the season Friday, Nov. 19; Thursday, 4-8pm; Friday, 12-8pm; Saturday, 11am-8pm; and Sunday, 11am-6pm

2. LeFrak Center at Lakeside

Price: $7.50-$16.21; $3 knee or elbow pads; $6 helmets; $17 penguin skate aide for 1 hour; $13 skate sharpening

This year-round recreation center offers roller skating in warmer weather, and then ice-skating in the winter. 

3. Vale Rink

Enjoy outdoor ice skating in Brooklyn that offers views of the Manhattan skyline. Get cold easily? No problem! There’s a heated enclosure nearby.

4. Abe Stark Skating Rink

1902 Surf Ave., Coney Island
Hours: Check the website or call for public skating availability
Price: $10; $5 skate rental

Quirky Coney Island is home to the beach, an amusement park and the New York Aquarium, but did you know there’s also an ice rink here? Located right on the famous Coney Island Boardwalk!

5. ArtRink at Brooklyn Children's Museum

Hours: Through March 31, 2022: Thursday-Friday, 2-5pm; Saturday-Sunday, 10am-1pm and 2-5pm
Price: $23; $8 for members. Advanced registration highly encouraged. Admission includes skate rentals, museum admission, and access to the ArtRink holiday experience.

Head to the roof of Brooklyn Children's Museum to skate on an eco-friendly 3,200-square-foot outdoor ice-skating rink. It's specially designed for skaters of all ages and skills. Visitors can lace up their skates and glide around under the sparkling lights of BCM's rooftop canopy. While on-site, guests can also enjoy festive music and explore a mini-village of winter playhouses, designed for open-ended play.

Ice-Skating in Queens, NY

1. World Ice Arena

Indoor rink
131-04 Meridian Road, Flushing
Hours: Monday-Thursday, 10:30am-5:15pm; Friday, 9am-5:15pm and 7-9:50pm; Saturday, 12-4:45 pm and 8-9:50pm; and Sunday, 12-4:45pm.
Price: $7, weekdays; $10 weekends and Friday nights starting at 7pm.; $6 skate rental. 

This destination for ice skating in Queens is located inside the Aquatic Center at Flushing Meadows Corona Park. It offers public skating and lessons.

2. City Ice Pavilion

This roof-top destination for ice-skating offers public skating, lessons, birthday party packages, and more. 

Ice-Skating on Staten Island

1. Staten Island Skating Pavilion Ice Skating Rink

Indoor rink
3080 Arthur Kill Road, Staten Island
Hours: Fridays, 8:10-10:10pm; Saturdays, 2:30-4:30pm and 8-10pm; Sundays, 2:30-4:30pm. Check the website for a holiday schedule.
Price: $14; $12 children. $7 skate rental. Group rates available.

This venue is off the beaten path when it comes to ice skating in NYC. Enjoy public skating and take lessons at this indoor rink located on Staten Island’s South Shore. 

2. WWll Veterans War Memorial Ice Skating Rink

Outdoor rink
Victory Boulevard, west of Clove Road, Staten Island
Hours: Season opening to be announced, but hours are usually Friday, 4-10pm; Saturday, 12-4:30pm and 7-10pm; Sunday, 12-6pm
Price: Call for information 

Enjoy ice-skating at this NYC Department of Parks and Recreation rink. Call in advance, as some information is subject to change.

Ice-Skating Rinks Near the Bronx

1. Ebersole Ice Rink

Outdoor rink

Enjoy the views of scenic Delfino Park at this outdoor ice rink. Skate lessons for all levels, hockey teams, and public skating sessions are offered here throughout the season. 

2. The Ice Hutch

Offers year-round skating lessons for all levels and ages, weekly public skating and figure skating, and hockey sessions. 

3. Murray’s Skating Center

Indoor rink
348 Tuckahoe Road, Yonkers

Murray’s Skating Center has been open since 1960. It offers public skating and a wide range of programs for children and adults.  

4. Playland Ice Casino

Indoor rink
110 Playland Parkway, Rye

An ice-skating rink near the Bronx, it offers public skating, lessons, and youth and adult clinics. Birthday and corporate party packages available.

5. Westchester Skating Academy

Open since 1996, this rink is an NHL twin rink facility in Westchester County. It offers public skating, lessons, and youth and adult hockey programs. 

6. Hommocks Park Ice Rink
