Looking for something fun to do on Father's Day in Manhattan? Here are some free and low-cost activities that dads and kids will love.
May was all about the mamas, but June is the time to show some appreciation for the dads of the world. Gather the family together and enjoy any one of these Father's Day activities. Whatever you do, just make sure to let Dad know he’s the man!
Make Dad a Handmade Gift
June 14: For those who just can’t wait until June 17 to start celebrating, head to Sony Wonder Technology Lab’s Family Workshop: Father’s Day Heroes where your child can have his or her picture taken and use it to create a unique Father’s Day card.
June 16: If you’re waiting for the weekend to start celebrating, you’re in luck: Saturday visitors to the Technology Lab can check out Family Workshop: Father’s Day Sports Cap Creations and create a special sports-themed hat for Dad.
Team Up for Some Fun
June 17: Sunday is the official national holiday, so be sure to say the words “Happy Father’s Day,” and maybe add breakfast in bed to the usual itinerary. Then get moving, because you’re not going to want to miss the Father’s Day Scavenger Hunt at the DiMenna Children's History Museum at New-York Historical Society. Kids and dads will practice their history detective skills with a tour and hunt, which is designed specifically with dads in mind.
Appeal to Dad's Appetite
June 18: Can’t bear to end the celebrations? You don’t have to. Head to Taste Buds Kitchen in Chelsea for a Father’s Day Pizza Party where you’ll celebrate by taking to the kitchen with Dad or other loved ones to make pizza from scratch. Register as a group for this family class.
