.jpg) Kids explore the physics behind popular amusement park rides with the opening of the Children’s Museum of Manhattan’s new traveling exhibit, Amusement Park Science. Step into an amusement park display and meet Newt, the exhibit’s mascot, who will guide families through activity stations focusing on various concepts of physics, like Newton’s laws of motion and angular momentum. In Create-A-Coaster, families create the ultimate rollercoaster using the right combination of simulated hills and clothoid and circular loops to overcome the principles of physics and get the coaster car to run the course. The full-body Amazing Momentum Machine teaches kids that a rotating object continues to rotate until acted upon by an outside force. With the Rotor, kids learn all about how the effects of centripetal force will hold them against the wall even when the floor slips away! May 23-September 10. Tuesday-Sunday 10am-5pm. $10. The Children’s Museum of Manhattan, 212 West 83rd Street, between Broadway and Amsterdam. 212-721-1234. www.cmom.org.
