Description: Dutch families in New Amsterdam were known for all the delicious food they made at the holidays. In this family activity, you'll explore the 17th century kitchen of Cornelia van Varick as she prepares traditional food for the holidays. You'll use sugar nippers and grind spices by hand, as well as lift a huge dutch oven. You'll get to make two Dutch treats for the New Year: orange caraway cookies and fried doughnuts. Contact familyprograms@nyhistory.org to reserve your spots.
